Rachael Dewar - Principal
Rachael established Rachael Dewar Law in 2010. She was a partner for 12 years at Tripe Matthews & Feist of Wellington, leading the Family Law team and has 29 years experience specialising in this area. She has expertise in all aspects including relationship property, pre-nuptial agreements, parenting and relocation, adoption and surrogacy arrangements. As a senior Lawyer for Child and an accredited FDR (Family Dispute Resolution) Mediator she has many years hands-on experience in the court mediation role. Rachael is a long standing member of the Wellington branch Family Law Committee of the NZ Law Society and is currently on the Executive Committee of the Family Law Section of the NZLS.
Colette Mackenzie - Associate Solicitor
Colette has extensive experience in the areas of Trusts, Relationship Property (separations and pre-nuptial agreements), and general property (including Conveyancing, Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Retirement Village purchases, and Subdivisions). Colette’s particular area of expertise is in the re-settlement of trusts in following separation. After starting her career with a leading New Zealand legal publisher, specialising in designing legal research products, particularly case law research, Colette subsequently practiced in the Property Team of a prominent local firm with offices in Wellington, Lower Hutt and Masterton before joining Rachael Dewar Law in April 2016.
Colette is a member of the Property Law Section and the Family Section of the NZLS, and is also on the Trusts and Estates Committee of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Law Society. She also volunteers at the Citizen’s Advice Bureau in Karori. Outside of work, Colette is a keen hockey player and coach. She has represented Wellington at both indoor and outdoor hockey, and currently coaches a Wellington Hockey youth representative team.
Colette graduated from Victoria University in 1997.
Frances Williams - Associate Solicitor
Frances has over 12 years experience in all aspects of Family Law. Earlier in her career she was an editor with a leading New Zealand legal publisher in the family law area. She has retained a particular interest in legal research that greatly benefits the team. Frances also acts as Lawyer for Child and has been involved in many Family Court cases, successfully arguing complex parenting, relocation and relationship property issues.
